What We Do

The guidance department makes itself available to help students in several ways. Through classroom guidance lessons, groups, and individual counseling, we help students identify and resolve problems that may be affecting their academic and/or personal development. In addition to being at the ready when students need us, the counselors also head several programs set up for the benefit of students.

Ms. Harris, 6th grade counselor is our Peer Mediator coordinator; training students to help others solve disputes in a peaceful and respectful manner.

Mr. Ellington, 7th grade counselor, is the Bullying Prevention coordinator; helping students, staff, and parents develop an understanding of what bullying entails and strategies to deal with it when it occurs.

Ms. Carter, 8th grade counselor, works very closely with the AVID students.
Students are encouraged to utilize guidance services when needed and hopefully see us as a safe and caring resource to help them succeed.
