Text Box: Welcome from Ms. Veronica Thompson, Assist. Principal Text Box: Welcome Back!!!! Soon the hustle and bustle of 1,200+ students will echo throughout the halls of Holly Ridge Middle School. We are looking forward to the exciting challenges that lie ahead. The administrative team has worked this summer on programs that will enhance learning and further promote student success. We are planning programs that will remediate students that are struggling to master the North Carolina curriculum as well as enriching students that have demonstrated mastery. Our goal is that Holly Ridge Middle School will be designated a “North Carolina School of Excellence” by having 90%+ of our students scoring III’s and IV’s on the NC End of Grade Tests. To achieve this goal we must all work together. Students, parents, teachers, staff and community must support learning and communicate effectively. I encourage you to become actively involved in your child’s education. Join the PTA, work with your child on homework, and set aside 1 hour each evening to read as a family. Research supports the idea that parental involvement has a direct correlation on student success. Please contact your child’s grade level administrator, counselor, or teachers if you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year. We are committed to working towards every student’s success. Together we will achieve great things. As a traditional curriculum school, we offer high quality instruction, opportunities for advanced studies, creative exploration and extra-curricular activities in a nurturing educational setting. I am very proud to be a part of such a great teaching and learning community. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our students for their hard work and their parents for stepping in to support us when help is needed. And, to thank our staff for challenging our students with higher order teaching skills to help them reach their fullest potential. As an assistant principal, I believe that my focus must be to help others realize our school’s mission to educate and empower students to make positive choices that lead to academic growth and personal well-being. I will help to accomplish this by providing an enriching environment based on the guidance and support of our staff, parents, and community. Furthermore, I believe that by setting high standards for teaching and learning, our students will have the skills and knowledge to be successful in high school and higher education, as well as productive citizens for our community, state, and country.
